This product is no longer manufactured.
This product has been replaced by 7900HT Fast Real-Time PCR System.
What is product discontinuance?
Product discontinuance means that Applied Biosystems no longer manufactures the product but still offers support for existing products in the field.
Why was the 7700 discontinued?
Sourcing spare parts for the 7700 system has become increasingly difficult. In addition, we are also moving toward newer technology. Last fiscal year we released our next generation real-time PCR system, the ABI PRISM® 7900HT Sequence Detection System, for more information about this system please visit our Web site.
When was the instrument discontinued?
The ABI PRISM® 7700 Sequence Detection System was officially discontinued on April 2, 2002.
Will Applied Biosystems continue to support my 7700 system?
Applied Biosystems intends to support current 7700 system users worldwide with software, reagents and consumables as well as service and technical support for a period of five (5) years from April 2, 2002.
What happens after the five years are over?
We will exert every reasonable effort to provide maintenance and repair support for as long as the required spare parts are available in our inventory, or if the parts are easily and readily obtained from third party vendors.
What instruments should be considered as a replacement for the 7700?
The ABI PRISM® 7900HT Sequence Detection System is a real time PCR system that combines thermal cycling, multicolor fluorescence detection and applicationspecific software in a single instrument. Please contact your local sales office for more details. You may also visit our Web site at www.appliedbiosystems.com.Practice of the patented polymerase chain reaction (PCR) process requires a license. The ABI PRISM® 7700 Sequence Detection System is an Authorized Thermal Cycler for PCR and may be used with PCR licenses available from Applied Biosystems. Its use with Authorized Reagents also provides a limited PCR license in accordance with the label rights accompanying such reagents.
Purchase of this instrument does not convey any right to practice the 5' nuclease assay or any of the other real-time methods covered by patents owned by Roche or Applied Biosystems.
The PCR process and 5' nuclease process are covered by patents owned by Roche Molecular Systems, Inc. and F. Hoffmann-La Roche Ltd.
